Room Parent/Assistant Room Parent Responsibilities

Classroom Responsibilities for Both Roles:

  • In coordination with the homeroom teacher, plan class parties.
  • Coordinate support for the classroom as requested by the teacher.  This will vary by grade and by teacher. Please delegate these opportunities to parents in the class, rather than taking them on solely.
  • Coordinate coverage for teacher lunches and other meetings throughout the year.
  • Organize your class for daily acknowledgements for Teacher Appreciation week.

HEAD ROOM PARENT Responsibilities:

  • Promptly communicate information about PTO events, fundraisers and other announcements as received through email from the PTO.
  • When needed, coordinate volunteers for any opportunities that arise throughout the year.

ASSISTANT ROOM PARENT Responsibilities:

  • Support the Head Room Parent as needed.
  • Collect money from the class for teacher gifts for the winter holiday, teacher’s birthday and end of the year.  You will need to manage the funds and purchase gifts on behalf of the class.  This money is not to be used for any other gifting opportunities.   Please inform your class about these gifts in advance to ensure everyone is aware.
  • If there is a need to collect money for any other reason (e.g., baby shower, wedding), please contact the PTO for approval.
